Yasmin Vantuykom: We finally won, but that’s not the full story. #59

We keep investing in what pulls our attention away,
rarely in what could sustain us in
the long run.

This Week on "Workaholics"...

Building Quyet

Last week, Quyet won a startup award by Unizo (Promising SME).
Let's be very real: It’s not the first time I’ve applied for one, back in the Efluenz days, I tried a few times and never won. (I did win "most promising Entrepreneur" once, but I've lost "Female entrepreneur of the year", many marketing awards with Efluenz, "Promising SME with Efluenz"...) "

So yes, this one hits differently.

Building Quyet has been a whole new challenge.
It’s a physical design product and a platform that helps people create long-term change, which basically means: double the work, double the investment, and zero guarantees.

There’s no “instant yes” market for what we do.
People need time to understand it. They think they don't need it. They think they can do it "themselves".
It’s not another trendy gadget or a quick-fix wellness app.

You don’t just have to convince people why they need it, you have to help them see why it’s worth investing in themselves.

And that’s the hard part.
Because we all easily spend big money on iPhones, iPads, and even those “life-changing” retreats. But when something asks us to invest in real, sustainable change, suddenly, we hesitate.

Quyet isn’t cheap, but it’s built to last.
It’s a tool — for your mind, your focus, your long-term balance.

Winning this award feels like proof that doing something different, something non-traditional, can pay off.

Or at least I hope for my sanity and cashflow it does at a certain point.

  • Winning takes time, but showing up every time is what gets you there.

You don’t control when recognition comes, but you do control persistence. Keep applying, improving, and showing up: that’s the real win.

  • People don’t buy what you make, they buy what it helps them become.

Whether it’s a product, a service, or a habit, focus on the long-term transformation, not the quick win. That’s where real value lives.

  • If it feels uncomfortable, you’re probably onto something.

Innovation rarely feels safe, for you or your audience. But discomfort is a sign of growth, not a red flag.

Yasmin Vantuykom: Newsletter #64 Not everything needs celebrating. But progress deserves tracking. December 2025 This Week on "Scrollaholics"... Since 2020, I’ve been keeping a Tada-Da list next to my To-Do list. It’s a simple habit: capturing what has actually been delivered, especially the things that, a year earlier, were still just plans. Here’s what made the list recently: A real leap into a new space. From concept to physical product, and from solo building to an expert community,...

Yasmin Vantuykom: Newsletter #63 The new status symbol? Being offline. November 2025 This Week on "Scrollaholics"... Offline is the new luxury. At least, that’s what Vogue says. Brands are leaning into analog experiences, tactile materials, and slower ways of living, because apparently, scrolling less is suddenly chic. Tote bags filled with books, puzzles, and journals are trending on TikTok. A flip phone or “no followers” status? Instant cool. Wearing yesterday’s micro-trends online is...
